Load-displacement curves

Submitted by kashoo on

I am trying to simualet Indentation Hardness Testing in ABAQUS and feeling like that there is some problem in my model.

Whenever I try to plot load-displacement curves it gives me bumps in the curve. Any idea, what should I do?

Should I reduce mesh size, I have done but then it gives me error with step size and so on.,

Domain control in ferroelectric nanodots through surface charges

Submitted by Jie Wang on

The ability to control the domain patterns in ferroelectric nanostructures holds promise as a method to tailor physical properties for specific applications. We proposed a new way to control the domain patterns in ferroelectric nanostructures. Desirable domain patterns can be obtained through different surface charges. The surface charges can be supplied by the atomic and molecular adsorbates on the surfaces of ferroelectric nanostructures.

Hi,

I am intrested in Process piping design and saw an institude in India  called IPEBS based in HYDERABAD  that offers such courses. I would like to know if this institude is a good one. Other recomendations are welcome.

Thanks for your information.

Submitted by John E. Dolbow on

The deadline for abstracts for the 21st Annual Melosh Competition has been extended until January 30.  All interested graduate students are encouraged to apply.

This competition for the Best Student Paper in Finite Element Analysis will be held at Duke University on Friday, April 24, 2009.  The competition has become one of the premier graduate student events in the broad area of computational mechanics.

ABAQUS model for special joint element and spring element

Submitted by jordan2 on

Very urgent two enquires:

1. How to model rotational spring element in order to define a curve
like M=k*(theta) where theta is the rotaional angle? It seems that
abaqus could only provide F=kx model.

2. there is a dashpot connector element which behaves like F=C * V
(where C is a constant), can I ask how to model F=C*(dv/dt)=C*a(where a
is the derivative of change of velocity)?

Thanks.

MATERIALS CATALOGS

Submitted by Joao Machado on

HI

I've been digging on google for some catalogs of aluminiums and steels, to get information about their prices and characteristics. I need to have a perspective of some prices, specially for pipes, for this project I'm working on.

The problem is, even with some companies display their products, they won't show their prices unless we make a request and they send a physic catalog. Since I don't have the time to wait for them to send me those catalogs, I'm asking if anyone can send some links, or some pdf's with some information.
