Acoustic refrigeration in Mobile phones

Submitted by shubhamkanungo… on

I think having Multi Function and multi tasking Mobile Phones r having problem of call drop as compared to other phones having less features the reason being as heat flows from High temperature(Mobile) to low temp(atmosphere) , Infrared radiation creates a barrier to the signal wave and such problem can be rectify by mobile cooling may be done Acoustically.

UMAT to VUMAT

Submitted by adarshchatra on

Hi,

I am using userdefined material model UMAT for modelling of hypoplastice constitutive model in abaqus.

I need to run dynamic analysis, so how can convert UMAT to VUMAT (fortran) subroutine.

Please tell me the procedure to convert UMAT to VUMAT, it will be of great help.

Thanking You.

Post-doctoral Position in Biomechanics at University of Texas

Submitted by Ravi-Chandar on

The Research Center for Mechanics of Solids, Structures and Materials at
the University of Texas at Austin invites applications for an open
position as Post-doctoral Fellow. The specific project involves collaboration with the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston and requires the Fellow to work at both institutions.  The work involves experimental characterization of tissues and surgical remodeling, and development of computational modeling of surgical reconstruction. While specific background in Biomechanics is not necessary, candidates should have a

Prestressed beam - abaqus

Submitted by eng.sara on

Hi,

I am modelling a prestressed RC beam with abaqus. For the beam I am using the C3D8 element and for the reinforcement and strands the BEAM element and I am using the EMBEDDED command to simulate the contact between the steel and the concrete.

I am trying to simulate the prestressed with the prestressed hold command, but I am not having success because I am not writting the correctly code.

Can someone help me and tell me how I can do this correctly? What should I write? Where can I see that?

 Best regards,

Sara

Calculation of Power law frequency dependence in ABAQUS

Submitted by bugatti87 on

Hi everyone:

Now i am doing a dynamic analysis of a sandwich structure in ABAQUS
,which is consist of viscoelastic (ER) material and elastic ones. I want to
input viscoelastic material parameters by means of Frequency=formula. But
I have only formula of shear modulus(including storage modulus and
loss modulus expressed in frequency domain) about the material
,Real(G)=G',Loss
factor=G'',(G=G'+iG'').So how can i
get the paraments required by Frequency=Formula? Thank you and waiting
for your answer!

Transverse moduli for composite

Submitted by KennyNg on

I'm currently working on modeling 3 phases composites material. However, I'm having hard time on finding the transverse modulus as it's different from analytical results. I've been using Mori-Tanaka approach to determine the stiffness moduli. Does anyone know how to obtain a correct values for the transverse moduli?

Modelling 2D instead of 3D in ABAQUS

Submitted by parisa on

Hi,

I modeled a beam with a hole in ABAQUS in 2D and now I would like to stick one plate to the beam surface.

I can do it easily in 3D but actually I do not like to jump 3D because It will make analyses very hard to follow.

My question is that, Is there anyway to stick a the plate to beam in 2D in ABAQUS and avoid 3D?

Thank you,

Parisa

Could you tell me how to define inflow and outflow eulerian boundary in ALE? MY ERROR IS "An Eulerian boundary region cannot overlap a sliding boundary region"

Defined in the first interface surface, and then modify the inp file, change to add

REGION TYPE = EULERIAN

*SURFACE, NAME=SURF1, REGION TYPE=SLIDING

TOP,S4

*SURFACE, NAME=EULER1, REGION TYPE=EULERIAN

EULER1,S3

Then, I go on the File/Import/Model...inp.file  - when he fined warning

Two PhD studentships in computational fracture mechanics at the University of Glasgow

Submitted by grassl on

There are two PhD studentships available at the University of Glasgow in the area of computational fracture mechanics of concrete.

The topics are multiscale modelling of corrosion induced cracking and meso-mechanically motivated nonlocal models for fracture

Please visit my webpage at http://www.civil.gla.ac.uk/~grassl for more information.

All the best,

Peter Grassl
