Study on electroelastic field concentration around the electrode tip in multilayer ferroelectric actuators

Submitted by Xujun Zhao on

Distribution of electromechanical field near electrode tips is closely related to the reliability of ferroelectric multilayer actuators. In this paper, the deformation and stress concentrations around the electrode tip in two multilayer actuator designs, partially and fully cofired, are investigated by means of experimental measurement and numerical simulations. The digital speckle correlation method (DSCM) is used to measure the full displacement field near the electrode tip with the high spatial resolution.

How to apply a pressure and a traction to a integration point by using VDLOAD

Submitted by hale on

My aim is to apply a prescribed pressure and traction to a surface. But in the VDLOAD only the array Value(*) can be written, besides the value is one dimension array.

Then my questions are that how to apply a prescribed pressure to a integration point in the direction which is normal to the  surface and how to apply a prescribed traction to a integration point in the dierection which is tangential to the surface.

Thank you very very much!

Membrane interactions control residues fluctuations of outer membrane porins

Submitted by Azim B Besya on

Bacterial outer membrane porins (Omp) that have robust ß-barrel structures, show potential ap-

plications for nanomedicine devices in synthetic membranes and single molecule detection biosensors.

Here, we explore the conformational dynamics of a set of 22 outer membrane porins, classified into

five major groups: general porins, specific porins, transport Omps, poreless Omps and composed

pores. Normal mode analysis, based on mechanical vibration theory and elastic network model, is

Simulation ENF Specimen with Fibre Metal Laminates in ABAQUS

Submitted by DaniBa on

Hello everybody,i am trying to analyze a Fibre Metal Laminate ENF specimen for crack porpagation with ABAQUS. Therefore i am using the VCCT method. The model is running, but not with the expected outcome. The problem is that there is no crack propagation, as Mode II energy release rate is Zero. I really don't know why. I am using the "composite layup" function with continuum sheels and SC8R reduced integration continuum shell elements. To get an ENF specimen iam stacking this layup and model a frictionless contact between.

concrete damaged plasticity considering strain rate

Submitted by Wenming. Wang on

Hi all,

Concrete is sensitive to strain rate. I want to create a model for a reinforced concrete plane frame. The material model used for concrete is concrete damaged plasticity, and the element type is B21. I want to consider strain rate effects of concrete(strength). The problem is that ABAQUS can not work after considering strain rate effects of concrete when the concrete yields. Can you help me? Thank you in advance.

Tension in screw because of moment in section

Submitted by parisa on

Hi,

In a section of a beam with a rectangular hole which has got crack (see attached picture); Moment and shear are specefied. I can undrestand why we have tension in the screw because of the shear but why do we have tension because of moment in the screw? Can anybody explanin me why moment in the section can cause tension in the screw which should be accounted for in the screw design.

Thank you,
