Post Doctoral Fellow at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST): Computational Mechanics

Submitted by Dawei Zhang on

A postdoc position is available in the Composite and Heterogeneous Materials Modeling and Simulation Laboratory (COHMAS) at KAUST. The successful candidate will be engaged in modeling and numerical simulation in nano-reinforced composite materials for applications in close collaboration with the aeronautical industry.

Coupled Temperature Displacement Analysis for layered Soild

Submitted by Dhaneshwar Mishra on

I am trying to carry out coupled temperature displacement analysis for layered solid in ABAQUS 6.8 but it is not accepting coupled temperature displacement type element for layered solid (Composite). I would like to request for some suggestions/ way out to carry out the same in ABAQUS.

Thank you.

A Conformal, Bio-Interfaced Class of Silicon Electronics for Mapping Cardiac Electrophysiology

Submitted by Jianliang Xiao on

In this paper recently feature on the cover of Science Translational Medicine, we report the development of a class of mechanically flexible silicon electronics for multiplexed measurement of signals in an intimate, conformal integrated mode on the dynamic, three-dimensional surfaces of soft tissues in the human body. Mechanics model shows that the strain in the fragile materials, e.g.

Elastic-Plastic Fracture Mechanics. Lecture 1

Submitted by Zhigang Suo on

These notes belong to a course on fracture mechanics

Decouple elastic deformation of the body and inelastic process of separation. Up to this point we have been dealing with the following situation. When a load causes a crack to extend in a body, a large part of the body is elastic, and the inelastic process of separation occurs in a zone around the front of the crack. Inelastic process of separation includes, for example, breaking of atomic bonds, growth of voids, and hysteresis in deformation.

Instructor of Engineering Science and Mechanics
