Creating a path in ABAQUS using node set or elementset

Hi, I am interested to creating a path in visualising results in ABAQUS CAE.

Then I wish to plot xy plot of say x-distance Vs principal stress. How to achieve

say using node set or slement set.

I did by creating a path in the area of interest by many many mouse clicks.

I wish to avoid this, that's why I created node set or element set. After this

creating a path on this elset and plotting an xy plot is what my interet.

Highly appreciated to have feedback from experienced users. Thanks.

is it possible to get "yield stress at ambient temperature" AS the "von misses stress at very high temperature"?

 I didn't do any thermal analysis but only doing structural analysis but i am using measured temperature values to my structural model. I created temperature loading with time (Using amplitude method as you mentioned). Plastic perfect material model created with respect with temperature.

 

I used Nonlinear Static Analysis with Linear Perfect plastic materialmodel. (fy=612 at Temperature=20°C)

The yield stress and elastic modulus values wereinput with respect to temperature (Using FIELD)

Hi.

 I was trying to reproduce the work of Zhuang,Ellis and Yu to get a feel about ABAQUS before starting my actual work...i have already went through the geotech examples given in ABAQUS examples manual.

But i am not able to understand the analysis steps performed in this paper.

Could anyone please help me...

question about Gurson model

I have a question regarding Gurson model. If we have a cube with initial length of unit and initial porosity of 20 percent and compress it hydrostatically in order to have a huge volume change of cube, the void growth equation in Gurson model takes a negative rate and reduces the void volume fraction to zero first and further compressing leads to no further void volume fraction change (remains zero) and no more plastic straining. Now let's load the model in tensile hydrostatic state up to a stress free configuration; the void volume fraction of the model remains zero.

Thermal stresses from pre-defined temperature data (thermography image)

I´m facing a problem in which a I´d like to assess stresses due to thermal gradients. I have an IR thermography image (recorded as a matrix) and I like to introduce those temperatures to Abaqus via Matlab.

Is that possible? Or should I use FORTRAN with the UTEMP subroutine?
