Aerodynamics of Flapping Wings for Biomimetic Flying Devices

Submitted by ADINA Support on

We present an interesting application of ADINA FSI in the

analysis of biomimetic flying devices. Please see

http://www.adina.com/newsgH62.shtml

You can find many other examples of applications of ADINA in the

analysis of multiphysics problems here:

BTOL command

Submitted by a. gaur on

i m facing  problem in multiphysics while glue two volumes. the error says that ' Boolean operation failed , try adjusting BTOL to some fraction of the minimum keypoint distance. model size (current problem) 1.908711e+002, current BTOL setting 1.0e-2, minimum KPT distance 4.334169e-006'. please tell me what BTOL should i set to glue the two volumes. what is the trick of setting the BTOL.

interface / contact problem of non linear analysis of RC Slab Strengthened with FRP using ABAQUS 6.8-2, need help

Submitted by elmi on

Dear Abaqus Users,

I have modelled and analysed a simply supported RC Slab strengthened with FRP using ABAQUS 6.8-2. Plastic analysis with Concrete Damaged Plasticity has been chosen to simulate the behavior of the RC Slab loaded at the centre. However, I have difficulties about the constraints between the surface of FRP and surface of the RC Slab. Abaqus did not recognise "tie" element for this interface between these materials. A good comparison between this simulation and the experimental test result is expected. However, tie constraints made the analysis to be terminated.

Euromech workshop on Multiscale effects in Fatigue, July 7-9, 2010 at the Ecole Polytechnique

Submitted by Mike Ciavarella on

Dear Collegue

We are organising in July 7-9, 2010 an Euromech workshop on Multiscale

effects in Fatigue, at the Ecole Polytechnique, near Paris in France.

Outcomes and topics are detailed on the following web site:

We would be honoured if you could contribute to this workshop to present

some of your recent research results.  The workshop is thought as a small

Cohesive Element can not Tie to surrounded surface?

Submitted by ldcang on

Hi

Now I am confused with a problem related to the Cohesive element in ABAQUS.

The model is simple: simulate the Mode II crack propagate at the interface between two materials.

first I creat two parts. and a layer of cohesive element is used to separate them. Tie constraint is employed between the cohesive element and the surrounded materials. But the results show the cohesive element can not break.

Damage modeling in ABAQUS 6.9 in surface based cohesive behavior

Submitted by munish_khullar on

I am working on shear failure of sandwich composites.I have modelled a sandwich composite with surface based cohesive behavior in ABAQUS 6.9.Now i have to do damage modelling. For damage initiation i have to describe values of 'peak values of contact stress' or 'peak values of contact separation'.In addn i also have to describe values of 'critical fracture energy' for damage evolution. I don't know how to find these values or where from i will get these values.
