I guess it is about time some one from the Cornell Fracture Group got on this site to try help answer questions related to the CFG software or other fracture mechanics related questions.  We do try to answer questions sent to us via email, but sometimes a forum like this would be best and we do appreciate other users input, feedback, and answers.

Nonlinear Analysis

Hello,In order to nurture you in an effective manner regarding the Newton-Raphson method I recommend you to consult the excellent treatise of I. M. Smith et al. entitled "Numerical Methods for Engineers ", ISBN-13: 9781584884019.Furthermore this method is elegantly elaborated in Finite Element Formulation in the outstanding book of I. M. Smith indicated as "Programming the Finite Element Method ", ISBN-13: 9780470849705.In addition the geometrical nonlinear formulation is transparantly and completely detailed in the famous book of W. F. Chen et al.

Beginner with abaqus.. need help modelling an impact load

Submitted by dandan on

Hi,

Im really quite new to using abaqus and I am having trouble with my modelling.  Esentially it is quite an easy problem but my knowledge of the programme is limitted.  Basically all I want to model is an impact load on a wall but im not sure about the analysis steps.  Initially i have been using a static step with a concentrated load but I dont know how to model the dynamic response the wall should experience after the load has been applied.

If anyone can help with this I would appreciate it a lot.
