A similar discussion on this forum raised many interesting point about- Stress or strain: which one is more fundamental?

On a similar note I would like to address this decade old fundamental question on how do we define yield point of a material?

Purdue University is seeking applications from outstanding candidates to fill several Postdoctoral Scholar positions to work on atomistic and continuum simulations of physical and chemical processes at extreme conditions of pressure and temperature. The successful candidates will join a multidisciplinary team including modelers and experimentalists working at Purdue, Los Alamos National Laboratory and Stanford University.
I am attempting to model high-pressure gas flow through the granular medium using Abaqus Explicit. I have used SPH modelling for granular particles and the gaseous medium using Eulerian elements.
A node-based surface is created for the SPH particles. I am having trouble establishing contact between the eulerian elements surface and the surface of SPH particles.
Any help would be really appreciated
Thanks.
