How to realize the second boundary condition (Neumann boundary) in UEL of ABAQUS

Submitted by windy on

There are higher-order deformation gradients  in the  higher-order deformation theory, in which higher-order stresses are usually  involvded in order to meet conjugating principle. In that way ,higher-order stress boundary conditions (such as Neumanm boundary ) should be applied when solving the partial differential eqution.

I want to know  how to apply this second boundary in UEL of ABAQUS.

any help and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Modulating crack propagation in a multilayer stack with a super-layer

Submitted by Li Han on

Quantitative characterization of interface adhesion and fracture properties of thin film materials is of fundamental and technological interests in modern technologies. Sandwich beam specimens used in fracture mechanics techniques, such as four-point bending and double-cantilever beam have been widely adopted, including the semiconductor industry.

Simpleware case study: 3D FE Model of the Diabetic Neuropathic Foot

Submitted by Simpleware on

Diabetic foot represents a complication of diabetes that can lead to foot ulcers and other serious conditions. 3D Finite Element (FE) analysis enables dynamic characterisation of different loads within the foot.

This study developed a subject-specific 3D FE model of a diabetic neuropathic and a healthy subject’s foot from MRI data. Experimental analysis of the biomechanics of the foot was combined with FE simulations of foot models generated in Simpleware software.

TURBOdesign Suite is a unique aerodynamic and hydrodynamic 3D design software package that allows users to design, analyze and optimize all types of turbomachinery, such as axial, mixed-flow, or centrifugal pumps, compressors, fans, turbines and torque converters.

Constructive and Destructive Interplay between Piezoelectricity and Flexoelectricity in Flexural Sensors and Actuators

Submitted by Amir Abdollahi on

Flexoelectricity is an electromechanical effect coupling polarization to strain gradients. It fundamentally differs from piezoelectricity because of its size-dependence and symmetry. Flexoelectricity is generally perceived as a small effect noticeable only at the nanoscale. Since ferroelectric ceramics have a particularly high flexoelectric coefficient, however, it may play a significant role as piezoelectric transducers shrink to the sub-micrometer scale. We examine this issue with a continuum model self-consistently treating piezo- and flexoelectricity.

EMI 2016 & PMC 2016 Conferences

Submitted by Amar A. Chaker on

The event to be held on May 22-25, 2016 at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, is actually two co-located conferences: the Engineering Mechanics Institute Conference 2016 (EMI 2016) and the Probabilistic Mechanics & Reliability Conference 2016 (PMC 2016). The event will be chaired by Prof. Sankaran Mahadevan and Prof. Caglar Oskay, both of Vanderbilt University.

create shell planar in 2D model ? (Abaqus 6.13)

Submitted by matiascuitino on

Hi,

I have modeling a ground in abaqus and simulated earthquake. will i need allow infinite elements in the laterals model (left and right). In other examples i see in the features (module part) created  "shell planar" en the places to create the infinite element (edge, no plane)... so .. how its made ?

thanks.

PD: Me english is terrible, sorry.
