How to define initial stiffness matrix for cohesive elements in ABAQUS

Submitted by pratshar on

I am trying to  model adhesive failure using cohesive elements in Abaqus. I need to define the elastic behaviour of elements using traction separation criteria.

So I wanted to know what is the E/Enn, G1/Ess and G2/Ett values for my adhesive(E=1650 MPa)?

advances and applications in Generalized/Extended Finite Element Methods.

How to calculate back stress in abaqus?

Submitted by gurumecc on

I am doing a fatigue analysis for a component which is manufactured by stamping simulation From the stamping simulation results , I have taken plastic strain alone. I am doing a nonlinear static analysis in abaqus. I am using the below command *INITIAL CONDITIONS,TYPE=HARDENING,SECTION POINTS If I am using this command, it is asking back stress value. What is meant by back stress? How to calculate the back stress ? Can anybody answer for this question?

Essential parameter/properties masonry structure modelling (ABAQUS)

Submitted by Raimy Haidar on

hai, im haidar (undergraduate-civil engineering from Malaysia)

Kindly please help me,

currently im working on my thesis which majorly focused on the dynamic analysis of masonry (Concrete Masonry Unit) multistorey building structure,

presently, im modelling the 3 story building (including ground floor) of masonry building with block size of (200x400mm) including 10mm thickness of mortar joint

(macro-modelling) using the ABAQUS program. However, im facing few issues and confusion regarding on masonry modelling:

The Keynote Speaker for this year's workshop will be Prof. Mathias Göken, Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg.

Postdoc Position in Computational Mechanics - Ohio State University

Submitted by soheilsoghrati on

The Automated Computational Mechanics Laboratory (ACML) at The Ohio State University has an immediate opening for a one-year postdoctoral research associate position. The project is aimed at the application of the finite element method for simulating and optimizing the laser ablation process in aircrafts. The optimization process involves characterizing the optimal laser parameters (e.g., peak power, fluence, intensity, etc.) to maximize the coating removal efficiency while minimizing damage to the substrate material.
