Dr. Emrah Celik is looking for a PhD student with mechanical engineering background (or a related field) who will apply nanotechnology on bio-medical applications. The student will design the mechanical characterization systems, develop computer programs, perform atomic force microscopy (AFM) measurements and analyze data. The ideal candidate will have previous experience or motivation to learn nano-microfabrication, laboratory measurements and finite element analysis. Programming, design and machining experiences are also plus for this position.

How to extend crack in Mixed mode crack growth in Ansys ?

Hi, I am doing project on mixed mode crack growth of semi elliptical crack in gas turbine components under cyclic loading. Ansys has capability for finding J,K using CINT command. But, In mixed mode crack growth, i dont know how to deal with nodes and how to create random crack with new node coordinates obtained from previous steps. If you have any ansys code related to creating crack and finding fracture parameters like K, J (mode 1 or mixed mode), Can you please give me the code.

Can any one provide any apdl code to perform automatic fatigue crack growth ??

Hi, I am using Ansys Apdl for 3d fatigue crack growth. I need any one code to understand how it can be automized (recreating crack with node shift and remeshing).

Gravity induced crease-to-wrinkle transition in soft materials

Creasing and wrinkling instability are two distinct surface instability modes characterized by localized singular folds and continuous smooth undulations, respectively. In this article, we show that the surface of a soft elastomer may develop wrinkles or creases under compression and the action of gravitational force, depending on the magnitude of gravitational force.
