If you have the basic concepts down really good, then I think you can learn alot by yourself.
But without feedback I would personally find it hard or at least very time consuming. The problem for me would be to achieve a clear goal for a learning outcome, and be able to test my knowelage afterwards, and this is the reason i greatly appreciate schools.
