Fracture Mechanics vs. Damage Mechanics

I was wondering what are the advantages of damage mechanics and fracture mechanics over each other? Specially in order to model the delamination phenomenon.

Dear Imani

I think that damage mechanics is utilized to model the weakening process of the interface, whereas fracture mechanics is applied to cases that there have been delamination exists. You can infer to this article(Z Zou. J Mec Phys Solids 51(2003) 333-356), which studies the delamination by a damage-fracture based method.
