Adhesion between transferrable monolayer and substrate ?

Submitted by Xianghui Zhang on

Is there any research about  interfacial adhesion of  transferrable monolayers and substrates ? I found it's quite different from the rough surface model, because the monolayer is flexible enough to match the roughness of surface. Can one determine the separation value from the different roughness of pure substrate and substrate with a monolayer ?

Can someone give me some clue ? Thanks a lot!

Thank you for the paper, Rui Huang, I will read it carefully.

The monolayer I am investigating is cross-linked biphenylthiol self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) which is 1 nm thick. It can be transferred to any solid substrate or holey structures.
According to your understanding, do you think that any experiments (e.g. RMS roughness determined by AFM) can be done to examine the interfacial adhesion between monolayer (graphene or SAMs)and substrate?
