Hi!!!
I am doing the modal analysis of a tapered cantilever beam with an lumped mass at the free end
I meshed with beam 188 and difine the crossection as rectangular at the both ends by SECTYPE,SECDATA command.
But how to connect the mass element at the free end?
I hv also gone through the VM34 example given in ANSYS help.
Please suggest.

but
use ansys workbench instead of APDL

Use mass21 elements. It needs to have defined a real constant with masses and rotary inertias.

e,1 ! to define mass element in predefined node
