Specific concrete failure criteria for Abaqus
Hello all,
I am working on modelling a simple concrete structure(like cube or cylinder) in ABAQUS and I want to feed in my own failure criterion( say maximum shear or normal stress failure limit rather than the compressive strength). Thus, I was told that I need to write a Umat file for that. Could anybody elaborate on this and possibly contribute into how this could be done in ABAQUS?

Failure of ABAQUS Model
Use the Concrete Damaged Plasticity material model. It is quite powerful. If it is not sufficcient for what you need, I think the only way to implement a new material model is to use a UMAT, but I would try to avoid it because it will be a lot of extra work.
