Maximum Time Step Problems in ABAQUS

Submitted by jodavies03 on

Hi,

I hape a relatively simple question. I am trying to set a maxmimum time step for a job by the lines:

*Static, allsdtol=0, continue=NO

0.05, 1., 1e-25, 0.05

so I believe the maximum time step should be 0.05 giving me a minimum of 20 increments in the step in total. However the STA file below shows that the job starts at 0.05 and the appears to ignore the maximum time step command. Can anyone tell me why this occurs?

 Abaqus/Standard 6.10-2                  DATE 08-Jan-2013 TIME 14:29:13

 SUMMARY OF JOB INFORMATION:

STEP  INC ATT SEVERE EQUIL TOTAL  TOTAL      STEP       INC OF       DOF    IF

DISCON ITERS ITERS  TIME/    TIME/LPF    TIME/LPF    MONITOR RIKS

               ITERS               FREQ

   1     1   1     0     3     3  0.0500     0.0500     0.05000

   1     2   1U    5     1     6  0.0500     0.0500     0.9500

   1     2   2     0     3     3  0.287      0.287      0.2375

   1     3   1U    7     0     7  0.287      0.287      0.7125

   1     3   2     0     3     3  0.353      0.353      0.06558

   1     4   1U    3     0     3  0.353      0.353      0.6469

Have you tryed to set the minimum and maximum timestep to the same value (in CAE)?

Mabe the line should look like :

*Static, allsdtol=0, continue=NO

0.05, 1., 0.05, 0.05

Hi Akumar,

thanks for the reply, yes I have found that I am modifying the time step using the VCCT linear scaling option. I wasn't aware that this would override the maximum time step, but I supose it makes sense.
