What a small world!
Daniel Suo sent me a graph of my academic tree, which he generated on the basis of the information on Mathematics Genealogy Project, using a code. I have not verified all the connections, but what a list of names: Huygens, Leibniz, Bernoulli, Euler, Langrange, Poisson, Fourier, Dirichlet, Gauss, Ohm, Klein, … According to this graph, we are academic descendents of an Iranian: Sharaf al-Din al-Tusi. The world has always been small.

Zhigang, this is very interesting! What I find remarkable (and perhaps this ought to be obvious in hindsight) is that modern mechanics community was created predominantly by mathematicians.
Very Interesting
It is good to know the early mathematicians are from Persia in 1200s. At that time, with Chinese invented gunpowder, Mongolian cavalry can conquer and destory every city. Genghis Khan (铁木真)'s grandson, Tulei (拖雷)'s son, Hulegu conquer Persia and built a country, Ilkhanate, there. There may have many Mongolian and Chinese immigrants in Persia at that time.
