The research focuses are both the study and the optimization of innovative laser cutting and mechanical machining techniques for structural and automotive application.
In the field of advanced structural applications the aim of the study is to improve the performances of the manufactured elements with optimized utilization and conservation of resources, energy savings and industrial efficiency improvements. In this context, the versatility of the laser machines that allow to realize laser cutting processes and mechanical machining offer worthy advantages in line with the European Green Deal.
The activities carried out in close cooperation with the University are split as follows: i) experimental activities carried out both in the company and at the University; ii) modelling and simulation activities carried out mainly at the University. The synergy between numerical and experimental analyses will play a fundamental role to depth investigation of the processes and the performance of advanced structural applications. Parts of the activities will be devoted to the development and application of machine learning for the processing techniques investigated.
The main expected results are summarized herein: ì) the development of advanced structural applications due to the use of processing techniques; ii) a deepening of the knowledge of the effects of the investigated techniques on the studied applications; iii) the developed tools also supported by machine learning approach to drive the design and the use of innovative laser and mechanical machining techniques.
Dates: 36 months (three years) duration, starting from November 1, 2022
