I've been doing a research for my thesis, it about the application of the Strain Energy Density (SED) criterion for the fracture fixation, which is related to the biomechanics field of study.
The equations of SED criterion to predict the failure of a perfectly
elastic material can be seen on "Advanced Strength and Applied
Elasticity" by Ugural A.C./ Fenster, Saul K. It is shown that a new perspective of the total SED may be gained by viewing the general state of stress as the superposition of the dilatational SED and distortional SED. Then it is also proved the Von Misses theory is just a part of the SED criterion, because it just only consider the failure due to the distortion (change of shape).
On my research in a biomechanics, it covers not only the study for a linear elastic materials, but also the nonlinear elastic materials. My Prof. told me that we cannot applied the superposition concept (dilatational and distortional) of the total SED for the non-linear elastic materials.
So far I haven't find any books or papers which can describe the the SED criterion for the non-linear elastic material. Anybody know any references or comments which is related to my topics? I would be very happy to know that.
Thanx

1.I am very interested in your fields (how to give a general perfect fracture criterion for a elatic-plastic process). if possible, can you give me a copy of your dissertation.
2. thanks again!
Not Yet
I'm still in progress with my research.
It's true that the strain energy density criterion is not limited to linear elastic materials but may be applied also to material with nonlinear behavior. But untill now i haven't find some books or papers which can describe or prove this phenomenon.
Please let me know if anybody know any reference which can solved my problem.
Thnx
