cellular solids
Mechanical models of cellular solids: Parameters identification from experimental tests
Gibson model (of micro-mechanical type)
Rusch model (of the phenomenological type)
Cellular solids, also called structural foams, are largely used in industry because of their structural and energy absorbing capabilities combined with a low weight.
Use as core materials in structural sandwiches and as absorbers of impact energy are typical applications. In automotive industry they are widely used in internal padding and inside structural elements of the external body for passengers passive safety in car crash.
