Corrosion rates of reinforcing steel in cracked concrete
Wed, 2012-06-20 11:06 - shavijabranko
Hi all,
In the course of our project, we are monitoring the corrosion behavior of steel reinforcement in cracked concrete, while exposed to simulated sea water. Recent results are posted on our blog, http://microlab-m3c4.blogspot.nl/ ! Be sure to check them out! For more information, you can contact us, or follow us on twitter @MicrolabM3C4.
Cheers!

A couple of questions :
How are you measuring the corrosion rates ?
What electrode surface area are you using to convert to um/yr ?
What reference electrodes are you using and if (I guess) you are using Ti pseudo-reference, are you checking the stability of these against for example a Ag/AgCl reference ?
Was 16/5 a bad day :) ?
If I were you I'd take more frequent readings at least on a couple of the blocks for a while.
Cheers,
Karel
