Post buckling of cylinder using ANSYS
hi...
hi... I am working on post buckling of a cylinder in ANSYS 12 using arc length method. First i did eigen value buckling analysis and the imperfection were included using NLGEOM command. I have been suggested to use displacement controlled analysis while using arc length method. Can anyone suggsest me how to decide the value of displacement that should be given as the limit for the analysis to terminate.... And what is the amount of load that should be applied while using displacement controled analysis. Is it the load which is slightly higher than eigen value buckling load...? Please help me.

I tried giving a random
I tried giving a random value (15 mm) of displacement as a limit to terminate the analysis. I am getting the following error
"Solution not converged.
Arc length value has reached its minimum allowed value.
Analysis terminated"
After this i ecduced the dislacement limit value to 10 mm. Here solution converged but it is giving me only the linear portion of the load - displacement curve with a slight non linear portion at the end. Later I did increase the dsplacement limit value to 11 mm thinking that solution would converge but no use. Got he same error again. Please help in tracking the remaining portion of the curve....
did you manage to solve the
did you manage to solve the problem? i am working on buckling of composite columns.... still building the model with isotropic material at the current stage
