Description:

We seek for highly motivated postdoctoral scholars and Ph.D. candidates in the field of solid and structural mechanics to join Professor Jinkyu Yang's research group (http://www.me.sc.edu/research/ASL/) at the University of South Carolina. Both positions are available immediately. Professor Yang's research laboratory is located in the Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of South Carolina, which is ranked 31st nationally according to National Research Council and is recently emerging due to the construction of Aerospace Cluster driven by Boeing Company and GE Aviation.

We focus on developing novel structural materials, acoustic metamaterials, and phononic crystals for aerospace/mechanical/biomedical applications, using both experimental and numerical approaches. Postdoctoral candidates should have a Ph.D. in applied physics, material science, mechanical engineering, or a related field. Ph.D. candidates are required to fulfill English test requirements before graduate school application  (please visit http://app.gradschool.sc.edu/ and http://www.me.sc.edu/grad/ for more details).
