Research Scientist Positions at the Institute of High Performance Computing, Singapore

The Institute of High Performance Computing (IHPC), a member of the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) in Singapore, invites applications for eight available positions for research scientists in the field of theoretical and computational mechanics and materials science. These positions are connected to the A*STAR-sponsored Visiting Investigator Program (VIP) with Prof. Huajian Gao from Brown University as the Principle Investigator.

Successful candidates will join a number of exciting research projects on studies of thin films, nanocrystalline materials, self-assembly of nanoscale materials, and hierarchical and multifunctional materials. They will also have the opportunity to work at Brown University as visiting scholars for an extended period according to the research need. 

Specific qualifications are: 1) a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Mechanics, Materials Science, Physics or a related discipline, 2) demonstrated ability to conduct scholarly research, as evidenced by a thesis or publications in top-tier international journals, and 3) the ability to make clear and effective oral and written presentations of scientific and technical information. Candidates with expertise in theoretical work, and modeling and computation of mechanical behaviors and properties of materials, are specifically encouraged to apply. 

IHPC provides an intellectually stimulating environment with key research projects in the domain of computational science and engineering (CSE), for modeling, simulation and visualization of complex scientific and engineering problems across a wide span of industries, including chemical, manufacturing, electronics and precision engineering.
