LLC (www.illinoisrocstar.com) is seeking an outstanding candidate for a computational
science research engineer position (mid-to-experienced), whose primary mission
is to develop, run, validate, and document models in large-scale numerical computational
solid mechanics simulation codes. As a research engineer, you will work in a
variety of computational science areas using state-of-the-art parallel
computational platforms to address outstanding problems in the areas of
computational solid mechanics among others. You will be responsible for developing,
running, validating and documenting a variety of computer simulation models.
The position requires the ability to develop your own code, modify and improve
existing code, critically analyze computational results, document scientific
simulations, experiments and codes and work on large parallel computational
platforms.
Required Qualifications
·
B.S. or M.S. in engineering,
physics, or a related field.
·
Three years or more of directly
applicable experience.
·
Finite element code development
experience in C/C++ or Fortran 90 beyond the classroom.
·
Education and experience in
computational solid mechanics.
·
Demonstrated proficiency in written
and verbal communication.
·
Located in Champaign/Urbana, IL
area, or willing to relocate. Remote
employment not available.
·
U.S.
citizenship or Permanent Residency absolutely required.
Desired Qualifications
·
Experience in writing proposals
and obtaining funding.
·
Proficient in both C/C++ and
Fortran 90 and writing MPI-parallel code in either or both.
·
Working knowledge of
computational fluid dynamics, combustion and/or chemistry
·
Experience working in a software
development environment with source code management, bug tracking, etc.
·
Proficiency working on Unix or
Linux operating systems.
·
Experience with Abaqus or other
commercial solid mechanics simulation tools.
·
Experience running parallel
simulation codes on cluster computers.
Position
This will be a full-time (40 hours per
week) salaried position with benefits. Salary commensurate with qualifications.
