Two Ph.D. positions opened at the University of Brescia, Italy

The group of Mechanics of Solids and Structures at the School of Engineering at the University of Brescia, Italy has two openings for Ph.D. positions. The appointment will begin on January 1st 2014 for three full years.

Positions are in the following areas:
1. multi scale and multi physics modeling, particularly but not limited to diffusion of species in solids (H-embrittlement, energy storage materials, mechano-biology)
2. propagating processes in solids, particularly but not limited to fracture propagation (dynamic, quasi-static, hydraulic), phase segregation, elastic or inelastic waves in multilayered materials, cloaking.

In order to be recruited for these position we require a deep background in solid mechanics and thermodynamics, knowledge of nonlinear finite element methods and ability to use FEM codes, preferably ABAQUS.  If interested, please contact me at alberto.salvadori(at)ing.unibs.it.
