PhD studentship position on "modelling of surface defects transformation in hot rolling of steel"
a PhD student ship is available for UK/EU nationals (ONLY) to develop a Finite Element model of the rolling
operation to predict the behaviour of surface defects on the rolled
material during hot rolling of steels. The effects of geometrical parameters along with the material
properties and the rolling geometry, such as bite angle, on the behaviour of
the surface defects during rolling will be investigated. The
project is partially funded by Tata Steel Europe,
a research experience on application of ABAQUS in large deformation modelling and metallurgy of steels is necessary.
programming experience with Fortran and C++ is preferable.
- Open to UK/EU nationals subject to EPSRC eligibility criteria being checked and confirmed.
- Period of funding is for 36 Months and may be up to 3.5 year depending on final circumstances.
- This studentship is available for an immediate start
