The Computational Science Research Center at San Diego State University is looking for  talented and motivated applicants for its interdisciplinary master's and Ph.D. program in Computational Science.

SDSU’s Computational Science Research Center (CSRC) was established in 1999 to bring together researchers in different areas who have a common interest in modern scientific computation (http://www.csrc.sdsu.edu ).  The CSRC is an independent research center at San Diego State Univeristy with its own doctoral program. SDSU's joint doctoral program in Computational Science (with Claremont Graduate University) ranked No. 9 and No. 13 in the country in the Faculty Scholarly Productivity Index rankings of best doctoral programs nationwide by Academic Analytics in 2009 and 2010, respectively.

The CSRC works closely with faculty and researchers from the Colleges of Sciences and Engineering, and promotes interdisciplinary research among its participants.  At present, the center has a core group of 50 professors from 12 different departments who participate in the program, with an enrollment of 48 doctoral students.

The CSRC collaborates with Lawrence Berkeley, Oak Ridge, and Los Alamos National Laboratories. Several doctoral students in the Computational Science PhD program spend summer or academic semesters at one of these laboratories on training internships. PhD graduates of the CSRC have pursued internships and found job placements in the research labs at Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command in San Diego.  The CSRC maintains collaborations and educational partnership agreements with a number of southern California’s high-tech companies through its Applied Computational Science and Engineering Student Support (ACSESS) program. ACSESS provides members of the technology industry with access to engineers, scientists, and researchers, thereby helping these businesses directly address critical industrial problems in a range of areas. Corporate partners include QualComm®, Source Signal Imaging, Inc.®, and Weidlinger Associates, Inc.®

More information on the center and the opportunities it offers for gradate education and research collaboration can be found at http://www.csrc.sdsu.edu.
