2014 Thomas K. Caughey Dynamics Award - Professor Alexander F. Vakakis
The Executive Committee of the ASME Applied Mechanics Division is pleased to announce and congratulate Professor Alexander F. Vakakis, W. Grafton and Lillian B. Wilkins Professor, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, who is the recipient of the 2014 Thomas K. Caughey Dynamics Award.
The Thomas K. Caughey Dynamics Award, established in 2008, and is conferred in recognition of an individual who has made significant contributions to the field of nonlinear dynamics through practice, research, teaching, and/or outstanding leadership.
This award is given to Alexander in recognition of his accomplishments in Nonlinear Dynamics, in particular his pioneering research in the area of Nonlinear Normal Modes and their influence on the global dynamics of nonlinear systems, as evidenced by his outstanding publication record and impact on the field.
The award, which includes a medal, a plaque, and an honorarium of $1,000, will be presented at the AMD Honors and Awards Banquet, during the ASME International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition, to be held in Montreal, Quebec, November 14-20, 2014.
