Postdoctoral position - nonlinear dynamics

Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) invites applications for a postdoctoral position from motivated individuals interested in modeling and simulation research in Nonlinear Dynamics (supervised by Profs. Pratyush Dayal and Gaurav Srivastava). These applications are sought under Post-Doctoral Fellowships Program of IITGN. The candidate will be required to develop a fully functional suite of computational tools to perform multiphysics modeling and simulation studies on soft materials. These studies shall include, but will not be limited to, developing models for nonlinear dynamical systems and performing their stability analyses; the basic computational framework, written in C/C++, is available. The principal computer programming language to be used for future development will be C++. The research emanating from the project will be published in peer-reviewed international journals and the candidate may get a chance to present the findings of the research in reputed international conferences like American Physical Society (APS), Materials Research Society (MRS) etc. Please refer to http://www.iitgn.ac.in/pd-fellowships.htm for information about Emoluments and detailed Terms and Conditions.

Eligibility Criteria

PhD or equivalent degree in relevant branch of engineering or sciences. Candidates who have submitted their thesis and awaiting evaluation may also apply.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in Linux/Unix based operating systems.
• Proficiency in C/C++.
• Familiarity with Makefiles.
• Familiarity with templates in C++.

Preferred Skills/Background

• Familiarity with the finite element method.
• Knowledge of solid mechanics.
• Strong background in mathematics.
• Familiarity with GNU autotools.
• Familiarity with the Standard Template Library (STL) in C++.
• Familiarity with Object Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts.
• Familiarity with GNU Debugger and Profiler.
• Familiarity with Integrated Development Environment.
