A 4 year project, in collaboration with SABIC, on the design of polymeric foams will be performed at the Cambridge University department of Engineering. The project will explore the relationship between microstructure and macroscopic properties of a range of new reinforced foams, including composite-reinforced foams.
The candidate will have an interest in Finite Element computations and in continuum mechanics. Fluency with scientific programming in FORTRAN, MATLAB and/or C++ is expected. An ability to communicate with academic and industrial partners is desirable. The successful candidate will have a 1st class degree in engineering or applied sciences with a high mark (eg high GPA).
Fully funded at UK, EU or overseas rate including stipend and fees.
