Open position at Teledyne Scientific Company

Teledyne Scientific Company announces the opening of a new position at its Thousand Oaks, California facility. This position offers you the opportunity to utilize and expand your academic training in mechanical engineering. The position will be associated with Teledyne Scientific Composite Materials group. The group has been for the past 20 years at the forefront of the design and characterization of materials for extreme environments including unique types of high-temperature composites for the aerospace industry. More recently, it also supports the Teledyne O&G businesses by contributing to the development of new products for deep sea applications.

Essential Duties:
The successful candidate will have experience and interest in computational modeling of materials and composites. He/She will be familiar with the latest finite element modeling techniques and be able to develop his own code to solve special problems in materials. He/She will have some background in designing with CAD tools and transfer those into finite element models. He/She will be also inclined to perform various mechanical testing. He/She will collaborate with other researchers and principal investigators on several government and commercial projects and be responsible for the success of critical tasks. He/She will be willing to carry out short-fuse analyses for Teledyne business units. As a junior staff scientist, he/she will also be encouraged to generate new ideas and introduce them into existing programs or develop new programs with the support of senior staffs. Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary, as well as a passion for science and technology and a willingness to learn.
