ASME Materials Division Electronic Materials Technical Committee Meeting

Dear colleagues,

We invite you to attend the ASME Materials Division Electronic Materials Technical Committee Meeting at ASME IMECE 2015 in Houston, TX next week.  The MD Electronic Materials TC was once one of the most active committees at ASME IMECE, with many iMechanica members acting in leadership positions on the TC.  Recently, committee membership has declined, and several members of the Materials Division have been asked to restart the TC at this year’s meeting.  We feel that there is great potential for this committee right now, especially given the recent Executive Order by President Obama for creating a National Strategic Computing Initiative to accelerate delivery of a capable exascale computing system that integrates hardware and software capability to deliver approximately 100 times the performance of current 10 petaflop systems across a range of applications over the next 15 years.

The agenda for the TC meeting is as follows:

1. Define the mission, vision, and scope of the TC (hopefully with input from previous members).

2. Identify symposia at ASME IMECE 2015 that may benefit from future partnership with the TC.

3. Develop ideas for symposia and other activities for ASME IMECE 2016.

4. Elect a new Vice-Chair for the TC (please contact us if you are interested in the position).
