There is a vacancy of research scientist at the Institute of Materials Research and Engineering (IMRE), A*STAR, Singapore. The research scientist will work on a project on non-destructive testing (NDT) of structures using acoustic methods.
The role of this position includes:
1) Design and fabrication piezoelectric acoustic transducers for NDT applications.
2) Assembly of transducer prototypes and evaluation of prototypes through experiments
3) NDT of structures using designed piezoelectric acoustic transducers
4) Data analysis and development of NDT models to quantify defects
Desired skills and experiences:
1) PhD degree in Mechanical or Materials or other relevant fields
2) Good knowledge of piezoelectric materials and piezoelectric transducers
3) Hands on experience on developing prototypes of piezoelectric transducers including electrode patterning and deposition, polarization of materials, characterisation of piezoelectric properties and transducer assembly
4) Knowledge and experience on acoustic based NDT methods is preferred.
5) Knowledge and experience on image processing of NDT results is advantageous.
Interested candidates please send a cover letter stating your research background and a detailed CV to Dr. Zhang Lei (zhangl [at] imre.a-star.edu.sg (zhangl[at]imre[dot]a-star[dot]edu[dot]sg)). We regret that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
