MUMO 2016 "Multiscale Modeling of Heterogeneous Structures" in Dubrovnik - Sept. 21-23, 2016
AIMS AND SCOPE
The main objective of the workshop is to bring together researchers with common interest in numerical modeling of heterogeneous materials. Special attention is focussed on multiscale approaches and homogenization procedures as well as damage evaluation and crack initiation which may significantly decrease structural load-carrying capacity. The invited keynote speakers will address recent advances in the analysis and discretization of heterogeneous materials. The state-of-the-art in the different computational methods, software development and applications to realistic engineering structures will be highlighted. In particular, young researchers are encouraged to present results of their scientific work. Presentations of work in progress are also welcome. The workshop provides an excellent environment to discuss open questions regarding accuracy and efficiency of computational methods. In addition, the workshop provides an opportunity for valuable interactions between junior and senior scientists that may result in new ideas as well as in new promising research directions. Among the topics, of particular interest are:
- Biomaterials
- Damage modeling
- Experimental and computational identification
- Extended Finite Element Method (XFEM)
- Finite element application
- Fracture initiation
- Localization phenomena
- Meshless method
- Multifield problems
- Multiscale approaches
- Nonlocal continuum
- Statistical mechanics
- Strain gradient approaches
- Virtual element method
