We are seeking a self-motivated postdoctoral research fellow with a strong background and hands-on experience in conducting machining experiments, material characterisation, and machining process modelling with finite element method and/or molecular dynamics simulation.

Qualifications:

The candidate will have a good first degree and a PhD in mechanical engineering, materials, mechanics, or a related discipline and also meet the essential requirements:

  • Knowledge of advanced manufacturing and machining processes
  • Experience in the experimental and theoretical investigation of material behaviours in machining
  • Experience in machining process modelling and material characterisation
  • Experience in the machining process development and tool design and implementation

The following will be advantageous:

  • Work experience in ultra-precision machining/microcutting
  • Development of material constitutive models for the finite element method modelling
  • Molecular dynamics simulation of micro-/nano-cutting processes
