We are seeking a self-motivated postdoctoral research fellow with a strong background and hands-on experience in conducting machining experiments, material characterisation, and machining process modelling with finite element method and/or molecular dynamics simulation.
Qualifications:
The candidate will have a good first degree and a PhD in mechanical engineering, materials, mechanics, or a related discipline and also meet the essential requirements:
- Knowledge of advanced manufacturing and machining processes
- Experience in the experimental and theoretical investigation of material behaviours in machining
- Experience in machining process modelling and material characterisation
- Experience in the machining process development and tool design and implementation
The following will be advantageous:
- Work experience in ultra-precision machining/microcutting
- Development of material constitutive models for the finite element method modelling
- Molecular dynamics simulation of micro-/nano-cutting processes
