2016 Daniel C. Drucker Medal - Professor Kyung-Suk Kim
The Executive Committee of the ASME Applied Mechanics Division is pleased to announce and congratulate Professor Kyung-Suk Kim, Professor of Engineering, Brown University, as the recipient of the 2016 Daniel C. Drucker Medal. This award, which includes a medal, a plaque, and an honorarium, will be presented at the AMD Honors and Awards Banquet, tentatively scheduled on Tuesday, November 15, 2016, during the ASME International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition, to be held in Phoenix, Arizona, November 11-17, 2016.
The Daniel C. Drucker Medal was established in 1997 and is conferred in recognition of distinguished contributions to the field of applied mechanics and mechanical engineering through research, teaching and service to the community over a substantial period of time. Instituted by the Applied Mechanics Division, this medal honors Dr. Daniel Drucker and commemorates his service to the profession.
Professor Kim receives the Drucker Medal for his seminal contributions to the field of Mechanics of Materials, with specific recognition of his creative research in bridging experiments with mechanics theories for understanding the motion and deformation of interfaces as well as the formation and assembly of nanostructures
