Opening: Full-time Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering, University of Pennsylvania

THE DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING AND APPLIED MECHANICS at the UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA invites applications for a one-year-long full-time position at the rank of Lecturer to begin in August 2016. The position is renewable depending on future teaching needs, availability of funds, and performance. Applicants must have a doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field, as well as a strong commitment to outstanding teaching and advising of students at the undergraduate and Master’s level. We particularly seek candidates with teaching, research, and/or practical experience in mechanical design, mechatronics, robotics, and experimentation. 

The anticipated teaching load will be four courses per year. The Lecturer’s main responsibility will be high quality student-centered teaching, including course preparation, delivery, and assessment. The Lecturer will also participate in the academic advising of students, and will be given the opportunity to participate in departmental, university, and external service to foster their professional development.
