Scientific coworker / Postdoc Researcher

In the section “Composites” of the ISD, a postdoc position in the area of modeling of
composite structures is available from now.

Responsibilities and duties
You will be coordinating a project in the area of modeling and simulation of
composite materials and structures. Objective of the joint project is the development
of nanoparticle reinforced composites and adhesives, and of hybrid materials, with a
longer fatigue life and improved light-weight potential for rotor blades of wind
energy converters. For this purpose you will in particular work on the further
development, implementation and application of new computational methods, such
as the molecular-dynamic finite element method and layer-based fatigue damage
models. The project will be carried out in close collaboration with two renowned
research institutes. Your further activities include the acquisition of projects,
advising PhD candidates, and publication in international journals.
The position is initially for two years. Extension of this period in order to pursue a
Habilitation will be strived for.

Employment conditions
Applicants should have a PhD degree in structural or computational mechanics. A
strong background in mechanics and numerical simulation is indispensable.
