PhD positions at IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca, Italy

Dear Mechanician,

we are searching for excellent PhD candidates for the next 3-yrs PhD programme in Systems Science (Track Computer Science and Systems Engineering, research unit MUSAM on Multi-scale Analysis of Materials) of the IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca (Lucca, Tuscany, Italy) to work on an interdisciplinary research topic across computational mechanics, materials science, optimization, and high-performance computing.

Deadline: August 3rd 2018 at 12.00pm (CEST)

Selection procedure: evaluation of applications based on merit and definition of a short-list of candidates for the interviews that will take place (in person or via skype) in the first half of September. Last year the success rate of applicants was about 1:100.

Official starting date of the activities: November 1st, 2018. 

The whole PhD programme (150 hours of intensive classes) is taught in English, see https://www.imtlucca.it/phd/2018-19/computer-science for a full list of courses. PhD students will receive a scholarship from the Italian Ministry of Education, University, and Research (about 1000 Euro/month net amount) and will also benefit from free lodging in the IMT Campus, plus free meals in the canteen.
