Three PhD positions are available at Iowa State University to perform work on federally funded projects on modeling stress-induced phase transformations, plasticity, and their interactions at nano-, micro-, and macroscales. Nano- and microscale phase-field approaches and macroscale large strain theories will be applied. FEM and/or spectral methods will be used. Strong background in continuum mechanics, computational mechanics, and mechanics of materials is expected. MS degree is required. Positions are in Engineering Mechanics program in Aerospace Engineering Department.

Please send vita that includes education, list of relevant classes, experience, list of publications, and references to Prof. Valery Levitas (vlevitas@iastate.edu).
