2020 Thomas K. Caughey Dynamics Award – Professor Pol D. Spanos

The Executive Committee of the ASME Applied Mechanics Division is pleased to announce and congratulate Professor Pol D. Spanos, Lewis B. Ryon Professor in Mechanical & Civil Engineering, Professor of Materials Science and NanoEngineering, Rice University, as the recipient of the 2020 Thomas K. Caughey Dynamics Award. This award includes a medal, a certificate, and an honorarium.

The Thomas K. Caughey Dynamics Award, was established in 2008, and is conferred in recognition of an individual who has made significant contributions to the field of nonlinear dynamics through practice, research, teaching, and/or outstanding leadership.

Professor Spanos is receiving this recognition for important contributions to the analysis of diverse dynamic systems exhibiting nonlinear response and exposed to adverse loads, with a focus on hysteresis and uncertainty features.
