2020 Warner T. Koiter Medal – Professor Anthony Waas

The Executive Committee of the ASME Applied Mechanics Division is pleased to announce and congratulate Professor Anthony Waas, Richard A. Auhll Department Chair and Felix Pawlowski Collegiate Professor of Aerospace Engineering, University of Michigan, as the recipient of the 2020 Warner T. Koiter Medal. This award includes includes a medal, a plaque, and an honorarium.

2020 Daniel C. Drucker Medal - Professor Glaucio Paulino

The Executive Committee of the ASME Applied Mechanics Division is pleased to announce and congratulate Professor Glaucio H. Paulino, Raymond Allen Jones Chair & Professor of Structural Engineering, Mechanics and Materials, Georgia Tech, as the recipient of the 2020 Daniel C. Drucker Medal. 2020 Stephen P. Timoshenko Medal - Professor Mary Boyce

The Executive Committee of the ASME Applied Mechanics Division is pleased to announce and congratulate Professor Mary C. Boyce, Dean of The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science and Morris A. and Alma Schapiro Professor, Columbia University, as the recipient of the 2020 Timoshenko Medal.  This award includes a medal, a plaque, and an honorarium.

Shuman Xia is the recipient of the 2020 Eshelby Mechanics Award for Young Faculty

It is with great pleasure that we announce the outcome of the 2020 competition for the Eshelby Mechanics Award for Young FacultyThe recipient of the 2020 award is Professor Shuman Xia, from Georgia Tech. This award is given annually to rapidly emerging junior faculty who exemplify the creative use and development of mechanics.

    Renowned engineering professor Huajian Gao collects another honor for his research in mechanical engineering and materials science.

Huajian Gao, a professor in Brown University’s School of Engineering, has been elected to the 2018 class of National Academy of Science members.

Yong Zhu is the new Editor of the iMechanica Journal Club

Yong Zhu, of North Carolina State University, will become the new Editor of the iMechanica Journal Club starting from Jan. 1, 2016. His research addresses basic and applied problems at the intersection of solid mechanics and micro/nano-technology, which has been recognized by a list of awards, including the 2015 ASME Sia Nemat-Nasser Early Career Award.
