Postdoc openings in modeling of additive manufacturing at the National University of Singapore

Dr. Wentao Yan's group at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, National University of Singapore (NUS), focuses on metal additive manufacturing: computational modeling, experimental validation and data analytics.

There are two openings for postdoctoral fellows with competitive salary, available immediately (due to COVID-19, the ealiest possible starting date is expected to be in July). While one position is affliated with NUS, the other is for a joint project with Prof. Jinhui Yan at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). The initial contract will be 1 year, and can be extended on mutual agreement.

The candidates should have at least one of the following expertise:

·        Computational modeling in solid mechanics or fluid mechanics, computational methods such as Finite Element Method, Finite Volume Method, Volume of Fluid, Phase field, Cellular Automata, Monte Carlo and so on, heat transfer, multiphase flow, metal phase transformations, crystal plasticity, thermo-mechanical modeling, etc.

·        Metal additive manufacturing (SLM, EBM, LENS, etc.), or similar metal manufacturing (welding, casting, powder metallurgy, etc.)

·        Data analytics, such as data-mining, data-driven surrogate modeling

·        Material science, material characterization and testing

Please send detailed CV (including but not limited to: education background and publication list) to mpeyanw@nus.edu.sg, if you are interested in the position. More details about the group can be found in http://blog.nus.edu.sg/yanwt/
