One PhD Position in Computational Nanomaterials at the University of Vermont

One fully-funded Ph.D. position is now available immediately in the area of computational nanomaterials in the group of Dr. Jihong Ma ( at the University of Vermont.

The successful candidate will work together with Prof. Jihong Ma on transport properties in nanomaterials via molecular dynamics simulations and density functional theory. Our group has obtained sufficient high-performance computational resources for theoretical calculations at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.

The ideal candidate must have a solid background in physics and mathematics and must present a strong motivation for scientific research. Students with degrees in physics, materials science, chemistry, mechanics, engineering, and mathematics are encouraged to apply. Research experience with DFT, DFTB, MD, and/or MM and a good publication record (journal articles) are desired. Applicants must have earned an MS degree and must meet minimum GPA and GRE requirements for Ph.D. admission. International students should also meet the minimum requirements of English proficiency (TOEFL>100 or IELTS>7.0 to qualify for funding. Please visit for more details).
