E-Poster Competition on Composite Materials - FutureComposites 2021, KAUST

Dear Colleagues,

The Composites Heterogeneous Materials Analysis and Simulation (COHMAS) Laboratory at KAUST (King Abdullah University of Science and Technology), Saudi Arabia, is pleased to announce e-poster competition on composite materials.

The competition is held as one of our highlighted programs in FutureComposite 2021 Workshop (May 24 – 27, 2021). This high-caliber online workshop is focused on the state-of-the-art technologies that will benefit the development of a strong composite material-related economy. The event co-organized by Prof. Gilles Lubineau (KAUST) and Dr. Fahad Al-Khodairi (Corporate Fellow, SABIC). You are of course all very welcome to attend. 

We invite all bachelor and master students to apply for e-poster competition on composite materials. The details about the e-poster competition are given below.

 

Deadline of e-poster submission

May 16, 2021 by 23:59 p.m. Saudi Arabia Time (GMT +3)

Topics

 

Students can present the research work related to (but not limited to) the following topics: 

  • Modeling of composites
  • Additive manufacturing
  • Damage & failure of composite
  • Repair of composites
  • Composite in aerospace & automotive
  • Composites in oil and gas
  • Composite and Industry 4.0
  • Fatigue of composites
  • Manufacturing of composites
  • Textile composites
  • Structural health monitoring
  • Synthesis of fibers and matrix
  • Fiber and matrix interface
  • Composite-based soft robotics
  • Joining of composites
  • Natural fiber composites
  • etc.

 

Prize

  • Winner of the best e-poster is eligible to visit COHMAS Laboratory at KAUST, Saudi Arabia, with all costs covered
  • Winner of the best e-poster will be announced during closing ceremony on May 27, 2021

Format 

Presenter must provide:

  • PDF slides of e-poster (one page only)
  • Pre-recorded video (contain their speech and PDF slides of their research; running for max. 5 min, made in *.mp4 format)

 

 Guideline for preparing e-poster

 

  • E-poster should be one page only in landscape orientation with clear images (72 or 96 dpi in *.jpg or *.png)
  • Make sure your text and background have a large contrast (dark lettering on a light background or the reverse)
  • E-poster must include a clear title, name of authors, affiliation, main text (Introduction, Objectives, Methods, Results and discussion, Conclusions, Acknowledgements, References)
  • Before submitting, save your poster as a PDF file (all recent versions of PowerPoint® and most other software applications allow you to save your poster as a PDF file from the "File > Save as" menu or through the "File > Print > as .PDF" option)

Guideline for preparing pre-recorded video

  • Utilizing a video camera that can give a resolution of at least 1920 x 1080 (1080 p – maximum Youtube resolution for high definition) is advisable
  • To achieve a good sound quality, it is advisable that the presenter to use a condenser microphone
  • Save your video in a *.mp4 format, and upload it through the link provided below

Disclaimer

 

  • E-posters will be judged by a panel during the conference
  • We will upload the pre-recorded video in YouTube. Thus, prior to submitting the video, the student must submit a signed form indicating that his/her supervisor/professor and he/she are consent with the recording and uploading activities (the form is attached to this email)
