Postdoctoral Position - Multiscale Mechanics and Materials

Kmomeni's picture

An immediate postdoctoral associate position is available in Advanced Hierarchical Materials by Design Lab at the University of Alabama with Prof. Kasra Momeni on multiscale modeling of materials and processes. The goal of this project is to develop multiscale models of alloys under extreme conditions, such as radiation, heat, and stresses, to develop new alloys.  The postdoctoral researcher will lead several projects on the material design using various techniques, such as molecular dynamics, phase-field, and CALPHAD. This is a multidisciplinary project in collaboration with researchers from NASA, Idaho National Lab, MIT, Georgia Tech, and LSU. The candidate will have the chance of getting involved in mentoring Ph.D./Masters/undergrad students, as well as grant writing.

The candidates must have earned a Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering or related fields and have a solid background in theoretical and computational mechanics. Particularly candidates with a knowledge of molecular dynamics simulations, phase-field simulations, or a programming language are encouraged to apply.

Interested candidates should send their CV (including a brief description of their research interests, a list of publications, and contact information of three) to kmomeni@ua.edu and put Postdoc Applicant on the subject of the email. Evaluations will begin immediately until the position is filled. The applicants should also submit their application to the associated job opening at the University of Alabama:
