Faculty position in Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Syracuse University

The Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department (MAE) at Syracuse University is seeking applications for a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor position in the field of Solid Mechanics beginning Fall 2023.

Successful candidates should have a demonstrated track record in the area of solid mechanics and will be expected to develop a research program capable of securing competitive external research funding. The department is interested in candidates who conduct fundamental research in the broad area of computational and/or experimental mechanics of materials and structures. Examples of research foci include, but are not limited to, mechanics of intelligent materials and structures, mechanics of soft materials, mechanics of interfaces, mechanics of energy materials, and advanced modeling and simulation techniques. The selected candidate will be expected to address teaching needs in the areas of solid mechanics and mechanical engineering at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

Candidates should have a Ph.D. degree in a relevant area of Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
