Funded PhD positions in the area of neutron irradiation effects on metals
We are looking for self-motivated and enthusiastic students with a degree in mechanical or materials engineering. Students with following backgrounds are strongly recommended to apply:
- Neutron irradiation effects on metal alloys.
- Fracture mechanics.
- Solid mechanics and finite element modeling of materials.
- Crystal plasticity.
- Diffraction and imaging experimental techniques.
Prospective candidates will be assessed based on how well they meet the following criteria:
- Excellent degree in their relevant discipline;
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills (iBT TOFEL score must be higher than 86, with no individual score below 20)
The following skills are desirable:
- Ability to work with finite element packages, eg, ABAQUS.
- Ability to conduct experiments using SEM, EBSD, TEM, and XRD.
- Ability to program in any of the following languages:Fortran, Matlab, or Python.
- Abilitiy to develop or work with user materials subroutines (eg UMAT).
